WATER: The improtance of it

I have always thought  water was an integral part of our daily life and have attributed many things to lack of water, like a headache, tired feeling,  illnesses and the list goes on, Just ask my kids...

I was talking with a good friend over the weekend and this topic of water consumption came up, our kids had a good laugh knowing that its not just their mom who says "how much water  have you had to drink today"  when they come to us with any ailments or complaints of not feeling on top of the world.
Any way I want you to share in our like-mindedness of the importance of drinking water so I have attached an article from my friends website that I would like you to read.

This is a GREAT article on Water and the benefits of it.  Please take the time to read and inform yourself

Holiday Balance

Feeling a little sluggish  & blah after the  Thanksgiving Food Fest? It's natural for everyone to indulge around this time, but punishing yourself mentally or physically isn't necessary. Instead, spend your energy being mindful of balancing out all of the "extras." One of the most important parts of attaining true healthy living and happiness is balance. Did you overload on too many holiday sweets one day? Skip the sugar and give yourself extra veggies the next. It's a simple as that!

If you know you are going to enjoy some of your favorite seasonal treats (your great-aunt's special cookies,  MY double layer pumpkin pie), schedule in a little extra physical activity to balance it all out. Sometimes the last thing you have time for during the month of December is going to the gym. So try some fun exercise with friends or family like ice skating, a walking tour of holiday lights, or dancing in your living room to holiday tunes, family walks around the neighborhood.  These are some great way to keep your digestive system flowing and keep some harmony.

Happy Holidays!  Be Blessed!!

Steps for Success

Success starts with taking a step in the right direction.

So many people have dreams, goals and aspirations of doing thing and becoming something or sharing with others.  The dream of tropical vacations twice a year taking the family on a Disney vacation, seeing the seven wonders of the world, and on and on.  but what is in your way?

YOU ARE.  I know that may sound harsh but YOU are in the way of YOU making the decision to do or not to do, to succeed or to fail.  It is all about a mind set.  Let me give you a few simple steps to get you headed n the right direction.

1.  Visualize.  One MUST visualize, daydream, get a vivid picture of what you want or where you want to be.  and then WRITE IT DOWN!  when its written down you'll have access to look at it on a daily basis to remind your self of where you are headed.

2.  Keep looking ahead...don't judge today's (would be) performance on Yesterdays actions.  Today is a NEW day!  New possibilities, new goals to get you to where you want to be.  You must do something to increase your understanding of whatever held you back before and do things different  today to get you one step closer to your goal.  By taking personal responsibility for what did or didn't happen yesterday. There is action  that only YOU can do ,your part, for manifestation to occur.
To feel great about anything you have to have a feeling inside yourself that YOU have done everything you can to increase the probability of the result you desire.

3.  Revisit your Dream/Goal.  Re-read what you have written down, take mental note of how it makes you feel when you visualize yourself in that place of  success.  Do this on a regular basis.  I recommend daily.  Now I'm not saying to dwell there I'm saying to visit it, remind yourself why you are doing what you are doing, then put it away and get to work.  This will help give you the energy to keep going and moving forward.

4.  Don't be distracted.  There are SO many thing that come up on a daily basis, in some cases a moment by moment basis, but don't let them get you off track.  Do what you need to do, get it done then get your focus back on your goal/dream.  IF you find yourself distracted and off track,  go back to steps 1, 2 &3 and get yourself back on track for tomorrow.

Now friends, this will work for you in any area of your life, be it Health, Career, Finances, Relationship's, you name it.
 But the key is CONSISTENCY!

                                       Everyday, Everyday, Everyday!
You will be amazed at what happens with a little time under your belt and some consistency!

More to come- Blessings!

Diets, Cravings & Discipline?

Chocolate, bread, french fries, candy bars, ice cream - it doesn't really matter what you crave. The important thing is to understand why you crave what you do. What motivates these choices and cravings?

Most diets out there believe that cravings are a problem and they must be disciplined and eliminated. However, cravings are critical pieces of information that help you understand what your body needs.

The part of us that cannot be controlled is actually our inner guide to health and happiness. This innate wisdom is always trying to make us feel better by urging us to eat foods that will dissipate, at least temporarily, our physical tension, give us more energy and lift our moods. In essence, this part of us is always monitoring our physical, emotional and psychological conditions and struggling to create balance, harmony and happiness.
Cravings are the body's solution to underlying imbalances, and food becomes a kind of medicine to regulate our current inner state.

Whether you crave coffee to boost your energy, sweets to raise your mood, or alcohol to release tension, cravings indicate much more about what your body really desires. After we indulge in our cravings we often feel weak and empty, and want something nutritious and strengthening.

By learning to observe your behavior and interpreting your body's signals, you'll be able to modify your diet and lifestyle in a more health-supportive way.

Cholesterol, HDL, LDL,Diabetes & Chocolate?

Chocolate Improves HDL Levels in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that occurs naturally in all parts of the body. The body needs some cholesterol to work properly. But if there is too much cholesterol in the blood, it can stick to the walls of the arteries. This is called plaque. Plaque can the arteries or even block them. High levels of cholesterol in the blood can increase the risk of heart disease. Cholesterol levels tend to rise with age. There are usually no signs or symptoms that indicate high blood cholesterol, but it can be detected with a blood test. Chances of having high cholesterol would include if family members have it, being overweight or eating lot of fatty foods.

HDL is the "good" cholesterol which helps keep the LDL (bad) cholesterol from getting lodged into artery walls. LDL cholesterol is the "bad" cholesterol. When too much of it circulates in the blood, it can clog arteries, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. To lower cholesterol levels exercise and eating more fruits and vegetables is advised. Also, medication may be prescribed to help lower cholesterol levels.

A study published in Diabetic Medicine evaluated the effects of dark chocolate on cholesterol levels, weight and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The placebo-controlled, double-blind crossover study included 12 individuals with type 2 diabetes on stable medication. The participants were randomly separated into one of two groups. The first group was given 45 grams of 85 percent dark chocolate to eat per day for 8 weeks and the second group was given placebo which contained no cocoa solids but was dyed the same color as the dark chocolate. At the end of the first 8 weeks, the groups had a 4 week washout period and then crossed over to the opposite group for second 8 week period. The results revealed that the subjects did not gain weight despite eating 45 grams of chocolate per day and there was no change in their overall diabetes control. The researchers did find that HDL cholesterol increased significantly when the subjects ate the dark chocolate everyday. They also found a decrease in the total cholesterol: HDL ratio in the dark chocolate group. It is thought that the high polyphenol content in dark chocolate is responsible for the positive results that were observed in this study. Although this was a relatively small study, it appears that chocolate in moderation is not harmful and may actually offer significant benefits.1

Wonderful Benefits of Chocolate!!

Interesting:

I have had depression for over 30 years and taking medication. I have been taking at least 2 pieces of vital chocolate per day and often 3 pieces. I note my mood is brighter and I'm more focused. vital chocolate's taste is great! I really like the five drops of liquid zeolite, knowing that my body is experiencing detoxification. - M.F.

I have never really liked dark chocolate so I was a bit hesitant to try "Chava" but when I did it was Amazing. A Great mixture of smooth rich taste and texture, Not to mention the great benefits I have been experiencing in the last few weeks of eating it. I have been feeling MUCH more energy, Better moods overall, I felt a sinus infection coming on and it was gone in less than 1/2 the time and this is only eating 1 square a day! I am definitely going to start eating 2 daily and giving it away...everyone should experience these GREAT side effects of eating....Chocolate Can t wait to see what 2 will do! - S.A.

Natural Product Used in Miraculous Healing of Cancer

OH WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY!!! Just wanted to share some Good News

When my friend went to the doctor for stomach pain and was found to have an aneurysm, the doctor also diagnosed her with ovarian cancer. Cancer was proven by blood test as well as MRI, CT and PET scans (her mother died of ovarian cancer last year). Over the course of 12 days before surgery, she took liquid zeolite, 10 drops 4 times daily. When the doctors operated, they found no apparent cancer but did a total hysterectomy as well as the other necessary surgery but said that the pathology would be the determining factor as far as follow up care ie chemo or radiation. Five days after surgery, pathology for cancer came back negative. Rather incredible, don't you think? - Kelley

The Beginning

Well it has now been about a week since I've hit my "Mid" 30's..... My 11 year old says that's young for being a mom... :) sweet boy!

I have not been able to get off my mind how I REALLY need to take better care of myself.

I don't feel old, in fact I am Loving my 30's but I do know that I only have this 1 body to live in until...well I die ; ) SO I best be taking care of it (inside & out) and making it look the best I can. BUT heres the problem...... Although I LOVE to read and research healthy recipes, and healthy natural ways to live I don't usually put them into practice... actually I do for a short time then back to the same ol' things. I thought what might help is some accountability.

What has been rolling around in my head is to combine a few things I LOVE, writing (journaling), learning bout healthy things & teaching. (of course I like more things than that but for this particular Blog that will be the focus)

SO for those of you who are interested and want to come along for the ride & read "living healthy according to Sarah" or anything I might just want to say, (because this is MY blog and I can say what I want) Please continue to read, if not, then DON'T.

Not sure where this journey will take us but it will be an adventure and the beginning of my Blogging.

Plese feel free to post aswell.
